International Foundation Year In Science & Engineering
Course introduction
This course is specially designed for international students whose first language is not English.
It will help you develop an understanding of science and engineering concepts and provide extra academic support to help with admission to undergraduate courses.
You will practise a range of transferable explanatory and evaluative skills.
Importantly, you will learn how to apply these skills as well as develop your abilities in academic reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Minimum entry requirements
As an applicant we expect you to have completed two or three years of high school or senior secondary school, achieving a good level of attainment in science-related subjects and Mathematics.
You will also need a UKVI approved IELTS English language certificate 5.0 overall with no band below 5.0.
However, if you have a record of high academic performance but an overall IELTS score of below 5.0, or individual scores below 5.0, you may be offered an English support course to enable you to meet the requirements.
Course structure
You will choose from a selection of modules, each worth 40 credits.
Your choice will be based on your academic background and your intended degree programme.
You will need to gain a total of 140 credits to successfully complete the course.
What can I do with this qualification?
Successful completion of the course will guarantee you a place at the University of Reading, home of the internationally renowned Henley Business School.
Students may progress to other universities including our partners. These are the University of Southampton, Bournemouth University and Kingston University.
