Course introduction
This learning opportunity is designed to develop your passion in digital media, teaching you skills that will take you into work, an apprenticeship or a higher-level course.
Your timetable will allow you time to participate in enrichment activities, known at Brock as Clubs & Societies.

Level 1 Certificate in Digital Media?
At Brock we opened a £4.9m Foundation and Independence Hub in 2023. The new building includes 14 new classrooms, social space, meeting rooms and a student kitchen.
Course modules/units
Units will include:
- Being Organised
- Developing a Personal Progression Plan
- Creating a Storyboard
- Designing an Interactive Presentation
- Shooting a Short Film
- Producing an Animation
- Creating an Advert
Teaching & learning
This course is a mixture of modern classroom-based teaching, practical sessions and work experience.
You will take photographs using a range of different methods, using the college campus as one of your subjects.
You will also deliver presentations to your peers and tutors.
Meanwhile, computer technology will play a leading role in enhancing your academic and practical skills.
There will be both individual and group work, with assignments set throughout the year.
Minimum entry requirements
You may be accepted onto this course if:
- You have an EHCP and we can meet your Special Educational Needs.
- You learn best in small groups.
- You have some gaps in your learning.
You must have an interest in Digital Media, which you can discuss at interview with the Foundation Studies team.
You will be assessed on your English and maths skills at the start of your course.
There will be consultations around whether we can meet your needs appropriately.
What can I do with this qualification?
If you achieve an overall MERIT grade, along with an excellent attendance record and the appropriate level of English and maths, you could be eligible to progress to a Level 2 course.
Alternatively, you may decide to move into employment or seek an apprenticeship.
