Spanish – beginners/improvers (three term programme)

Course introduction

This course is for learners who have previously studied Spanish at A1 level and A2 level, who now want to improve their knowledge of the language. You will have the opportunity to revise your current knowledge, enhance your vocabulary, extend your use of different verb tenses, and learn effective sentence construction. This will raise your level and enable you to participate more fully in general conversation around a variety of everyday subjects. The core language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing will be explored in a way that will add greater depth to your Spanish learning experience. Topics covered will include the use of reflexive, present, past and future verb tenses, as well as the imperative form. You will also benefit from an extension of your vocabulary related to family, describing people, jobs, places, visiting the doctor, travel, giving directions, various activities, and your likes and dislikes. You will also gain an insight into some of the history, customs and everyday life of modern Spain and Latin America. There will be no formal assessment. Rather, this is simply an opportunity to practise your skills in a supportive environment under the supervision of a qualified Tutor.
