Course introduction

You will cover various aspects of upholstery including stripping, webbing, springing and buttoning.

You will work at your own pace on a project of your choice.

You will complete all techniques required for your item of furniture and also have an opportunity to watch fellow students work on their projects.

As you progress you will learn about the tools and equipment required and be encouraged to consider design.

The class is taught in a friendly atmosphere with guidance being given to students at every stage.

The class is predominately practical and the tutor gives verbal instruction backed up with handouts.

Assessment is by observation and discussion.

Information & support

This is a mixed ability class and will suit any level of student.

What do I need to bring to the course?

Your tutor will advise you on a full tools list over the first couple of weeks.

However for the first lesson it would be useful to bring: An item of furniture (no need to strip it first ), a pair of scissor and a tack remover.

Although there will be some tools that you may borrow from the tutor, getting the essentials will ensure you are not having to wait to use tools.

A note pad, pen and a camera would also be useful for recording your progression.
