Visas

Visas

At Brockenhurst College we are a Sponsor for the Points Based System (PBS) and are therefore licensed to welcome International students wishing to study in the UK.

Because we have demonstrated many years of successful compliance with sponsorship duties, we also have Track Record status with the Home Office. This confers additional privileges on our long-term students such as limited rights to work.

Students on short-term courses of less than one academic year may require a standard visitor visa or short-term study visa (if they are studying English only for 6-11 months).

We advise you to check the UK Visas and Immigration website for the latest regulations.

You can also find advice from the UK Council for International Student Affairs here www.ukcisa.org.uk

From 2021 all new International students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland studying for more than six months will be required to apply for a student route visa, unless they already have a form of immigration permission.

You can find guidance on this change here:

How to get your Student route visa

We have an in-house immigration advice service to help students obtain a visa as quickly and efficiently as possible. In order to apply for your Student route visa, you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) document from us. This includes a unique identification number that we have requested from UKVI that relates to the offer we have made to you.

We will issue a CAS when:

  • We have sent you an offer for which you have met any conditions, including receiving copies of your certificates and proof of English if applicable.
  • You have paid the required deposit.
  • It is within six months of your course start date.
  • You have provided us with assurance that you have met all other UKVI requirements such as any necessary health checks or financial proof.

Once you have your CAS, you are free to apply for your visa.

Please let us know the outcome of your application so we can confirm your study place and make any accommodation and transfer arrangements.

English Language Levels

Brockenhurst College and UK Visas and Immigration require proof of your English language ability. Language requirements vary depending on the course you are planning to study.  For specific requirements, please refer to our courses and programmes.

We need to know that you have strong enough English skills to succeed in your studies and progress onto university if that is your aim.

English language ESOL classes are compulsory for all students who do not have English as their first language and who do not have an English score of IELTS 6.5 in all bands.
