Brockenhurst College has become the first local college offering Higher Education programmes to sign up to the QAA’s Academic Integrity Charter, which is designed to uphold academic standards in Higher Education.
The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is an independent body that checks on quality and standards in UK Higher Education.
It was the QAA’s Academic Integrity Advisory Group that developed the Academic Integrity Charter to provide a baseline position for colleges and universities.
According to QAA, institutions can then ‘build their own policies and practices to ensure that every student’s qualification is genuine, verifiable and respected’.
As a signatory to the Academic Charter, Brock has pledged to institute the baseline standards on academic integrity and seek to expand on them.
The College currently provides Early Years and Early Childhood Higher Education programmes in partnership with the University of Chichester.
Head of Curriculum Early Childhood, Health Studies and HE, Lisa Bell said: “We are proud to be the first Further Education College offering Higher Education courses in our area to take this important step for the benefit of our students.”
