Brockenhurst College targets even greater student success with FOUR specialist Academies
20 August 2018
Brockenhurst College now has FOUR specialist Academies nurturing students’ talents through a range of strategies to further develop their knowledge, skills and experience.
The new STEM Academy and new Performing Arts and Music Academy sit alongside the successful Aspire Academy for high-achieving academic students and the longstanding, equally successful, Sports Academy.
Each Academy is designed to ensure students realise their full potential through additional challenges, experience and support.
This includes specialised programmes, field trips, talks by visiting speakers and the chance to complete an Extended Project Qualification.
The four Academies also give students more opportunities to develop alongside likeminded and similarly talented young people, bringing an important element of peer-encouragement and togetherness.
Academy members follow at least two Enrichment opportunities allied to their Academy’s focus and are encouraged to become Student Ambassadors for the College.
As well as aiding personal development, the Academies and their associated benefits provide useful content for students’ growing CVs and university applications, helping them to stand out.
College Principal Di Roberts CBE said: “Our academies provide outstanding opportunities for our students to develop and ultimately excel alongside their peers.
“Each one is carefully structured to combine specialised activities with a holistic focus on developing a mindset geared towards ongoing success.”
