Brockenhurst College students who lack basic consumer goods due to financial hardship can now apply to receive these items completely FREE through the College’s Community Pantry scheme.

The discreet and confidential service, run through the LRC, can supply food, toiletries and sanitary products to those in need.

Brock’s Community Pantry was set up thanks to a £4,000 grant from Hampshire County Council’s connect4communities programme.

Students in need simply have to email what goods they require from the selection on display in the LRC.

These will then be then packaged and made available for collection from the LRC as soon as possible.

Although the scheme has been planned as a one-off, staff are exploring ways to keep similar support in place when the current stock runs out.

Brock’s Learning Resource Centre Supervisor, Carina Crain, said: “The cost of living crisis means that lots of families are having to go without many of the basics.

“Here at Brock we want to help, which is why we have launched this discreet and confidential scheme with the assistance of Hampshire County Council’s connect4communities programme.”
