Spritely Doris, who turns 100 today, was joined by her daughter Annie and granddaughters Natasha and Tilly.

Tilly worked at Brock as Course Leader for Continuing Education and Link, leaving earlier this year.

In total, Doris has three children, seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

The jigsaw fan from Bournemouth, who worked as a telephone operator during the war and ran a guesthouse afterwards, dined on roast chicken and vegetables with vin rouge jus.

Doris, who also enjoys a game of cards and is reportedly a very good cook, said having her family around her has kept her feeling young.

About MJ’s, she said: “I like to support the students and the food is very tasty; we’ve been coming here for my birthday for years, and I’ve got to know John and the team well.”

Senior Instructor in Hospitality, John MacArthur, who runs MJ’s kitchen, said: “Doris is a valued customer who has a very discerning palate – everyone at MJ’s wishes her a very happy 100th birthday.”

Doris’s relatives will visit from all over the country this week to celebrate her special milestone.
