The College’s annual Employability Evening was even bigger in 2016 with companies from right across the employment spectrum turning up to meet potential new recruits.

The event included exhibitions, talks, one-to-one advice, and, of course, lots of information for students to take away.

Representatives from firms such as JP Morgan, Berthon Boat Company, Westlake Clarke, Aeroflex Engineering and Limewood Group all attended.

Other participants included Go Sky Dive, Exxon Mobil, Careys Manor Hotel, Shorefield Holiday Park, Appello, BDO, Incuhive and Bournemouth and Poole College.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the Employer Panel initiative, which gave students the opportunity to quiz employers on exactly what they want to see from applicants.

JP Morgan apprentice Izzy Rule also sat on the panel to talk about her experience of training with the company.

Maths and Engineering student Stephanie Babalola said afterwards: “It was great to talk to the employers about my future options and hear first-hand how I can become more employable.”

Zoe Redmill from accountancy firm Westlake Clarke, who sat on the Employer Panel, said: “Our main aim at this event was to help explain the various benefits and dynamics of different employment opportunities, including apprenticeships.”

Director of Learners Dom Chapman said: “This event demonstrates our commitment to forging solid links with employers for the lasting benefit of all concerned.”
