English playwright, Simon Stephens, visits Brockenhurst College

English playwright, Simon Stephens, visited Brockenhurst College this week to talk to Performing Arts, Drama and Creative Writing Students. Simon is an Artistic Associate at the Lyric, Hammersmith and has taught on the Young Writer’s Programme at the Royal Court Theatre for a number of years.

He spoke to the students about his theatre adaptation of the award winning novel, ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’, and his historically acclaimed theatre adaption of, ‘A Doll’s House’ by Henrik Ibsen. Simon received a very warm reception from the enthusiastic students who had plenty of questions for the playwright.

BTEC Performing Arts student, Phoebe Littlewood said, ‘I found his talk to be very inspirational. It really gives us hope and has made me feel that anything is possible if you have the determination.’

Simon was impressed with the Brockenhurst students; ‘They are so bright, intelligent and attentive’.
