South Coast Institute of Technology

Here at Brock we are active members of the South Coast Institute of Technology (IoT), alongside other colleges in our region. This initiative is designed to enable colleges and universities to deliver courses that support the government’s aim of reforming vocational and technical education and training.

The IoT’s primary aim is to roll out an enhanced curriculum offer to students that addresses and responds to local and regional skills gaps, supporting business needs. Ultimately, these enhanced courses will prepare students for work in key areas of industry, while simultaneously giving employers a pipeline of candidates with the right knowledge and skills.

The South Coast IoT focuses on supporting the development of courses in three industries where regional skills gaps have been identified – engineering, maritime and digital. Initially, the focus was on providing financial support to colleges and universities in order to significantly improve facilities and equipment access. This focus has now expanded to include providing high-quality careers and progression information, advice and guidance to students, parents/carers and schools.
