Open Events are the principal opportunity for learners and parents to tour our facilities and discover more about the options available by talking to teaching and support staff.

We hold four Open Events each year, during evenings and Saturdays.

OPEN EVENTS

We hold exclusive information events for parents and guardians between November and May. These are an ideal opportunity to learn about available options.

The events last approximately 90 minutes and include a presentation from senior management and a campus tour to show the college in action. There will also be a Q&A session, plus the chance to speak with current students.

PARENT & GUARDIAN TOURS

This initiative is about giving Year 10 learners a tangible sense of what further education is like.

They can tour the College, speak to teachers and students, find out about courses and enrichment opportunities, and consider practical matters such as travel.

Steps to Success is a prime opportunity for learners to get helpful advice on GCSE revision and exam strategies, helping them reach their potential.

This free evening event takes place in the summer term. It is led by motivational speakers and has proved very popular.

New students can visit Brock in the summer term for our Freshers’ Day event, which is focussed on giving them a helpful prelude to college life.

This event is an extra opportunity to review subject choices, become familiar with the campus, talk to teachers and meet new friends.

If a learner excels at a sport and wishes to keep playing that sport at Brock, then he or she should can participate in one of our Sports Academy taster sessions.

Sessions are scheduled for the spring term, and each one is focussed on a different sport. Currently we run Sports Academies in Football, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, and Netball.

SPORTS ACADEMY

To obtain a first-hand account of what life at Brock is like, learners can take advantage of our Brock Buddy scheme.

This initiative involves them spending time on campus alongside a current student who will guide them through a typical day.

Throughout the academic year we visit schools to hold special further education assemblies and careers events.

Importantly, we send out a wide variety of staff such as teachers, progression advisors and members of our senior management team. Student Ambassadors also participate.

We visit schools to speak to learners from Year 7 upwards to encourage learners to think about life after school.

This initiative is about helping pupils consider the different directions they may wish to take rather than specific courses.
