Marchwood Foundation Learners Visit Covers On what was a rainy start to the morning our foundation learners headed for a visit to the main depot of Covers Building and Timber merchants. Our foundation learners are working towards an extended certificate in construction studies whereby they learn and identify the basics of carpentry and other assorted trades within the building arena. Part of the cohort have special educational needs and are working towards employment outcomes from their educational health and social plans. The Marchwood Skills Centre is the vocational skills department of Brockenhurst College and the learners had a thoroughly good time. They witnessed the entire process of the raw materials being put through the process leading up to the cut and being ready for the customer’s order. They then learnt the basic principles of the treatment of timber along with understanding the difference of ply material. They then had a briefing on where the different timbers originate from. All in all a most excellent visit supporting their progress. Massive thanks must go out to Covers in Chichester and our tour guide Neil Covers Timber & Builders Merchants #ThinkBrock
