The college hockey academy is a tremendous platform for any player wanting to improve their hockey skills and get ready for that next level in the sport.
With success on and off the pitch, the academy offers you a chance to combine your academic studies whilst playing a sport you enjoy and want to develop in. Joining the academy instantly gives you a group of friends and as we run a men’s, ladies and mixed team, you’ll soon feel a part of the team.
Not only this, but Brock is the only college in Hampshire to have a full sized astro and warm up pitch on the main campus so you really do have access to outstanding facilities!
As described by one of our players: “Hockey Academy is like a family, we train and play as a unit”.

Why join us?
The Academy is designed for anyone interested and committed to improving at Hockey.
Training is scheduled around your studies to make sure you never have to miss out on any of the fun and each squad has the opportunity to train twice a week and play fixtures on Wednesday afternoons in various county, regional and national competitions.
Each year we field three teams, a men’s, ladies and a mixed team and we also squeeze in time to play in some tournaments and friendlies’ against private schools and university teams.
The training programme follows a season plan that is based on the England Hockey Single System and is specifically structured to develop a player’s ability and role within the team.
We work through all the technical skills, various defensive and attacking plays, set pieces and tactics and put this in to practice in the weekly matches.
We have been lucky enough to have various successes over the years, be it winning the various leagues, representing the region at the national champs or having players form our squads selected to represent England. Success for us as an Academy is ultimately measured in how many of our players develop a real knowledge of the game and a love for Hockey at Brock. Our aim is for all of our players to go on to play Hockey at University and for our local Clubs. If success for you is to get to England however, don’t worry, we’ll support you all the way!
Our players play throughout Hampshire and Dorset and we therefore have links with all the local clubs such as New Forest, Wimborne, Bournemouth, Romsey and Southampton.
I joined the academy to improve my overall hockey ability and that's exactly what the academy allowed me to do. With high level coaches they gave me advise on how to improve and they were a massive help in my development. The social side of the academy was also a huge part of the academy as it has a family feel to it.
I joined the Hockey Academy because I love hockey wanted to carry it on through my college life, the training at Brockenhurst is great and everybody is so fun to be around, train alongside and be on a team with.
I joined the hockey academy at Brockenhurst college to further develop my ability as both a player and as a coach. The best part of being in the academy is the social side on and off the pitch alongside the amount of games you get to play throughout the year. I feel that being in the academy has developed my ability in all aspects of the game.
Get Involved – Taster Sessions
