The Netball Academy offers players the ultimate combination of having fun and developing your skills.
We train hard and perform at an exceptionally high standard for a College netball team, but we also offer options to go on trips, tours to European destinations and take part in numerous tournaments and events.
All training sessions are tailored to help you progress and improve in all aspects of play. You will not only represent the college in various competitions but will be given the opportunity to trial and represent the country.
Opportunities are also given for students to attend European tours to countries such as Spain and Malta, as well as local trips to UK based locations such as Surrey to work alongside Superleague side Surrey Storm.
Meet the team
Julie Osborne (UKCC Level 2 Netball Coach, BSc Sports Science, PGCE, ITEC Sports Massage).
Abi Hayward (UKCC Level 2 Netball Coach, C Award Netball Umpire)
Both of the Brock coaches still play netball at a competitive level. Julie plays in the Regional League for her Portsmouth based club, which she is also Head Coach of.
As well as coaching this adult team, Julie also runs her own junior netball club for girls aged 11-16. She has coached players of all abilities, and currently coaches County and Regional level players.
Abi plays netball in the Hampshire League for a Southampton based side. She is actively involved in all aspects of the club from umpiring regularly to coaching various age groups and teams. Both coaches are highly experienced and look forward to welcoming all players to the Academy
Why join us?
The Netball Academy has two teams that play in the Hampshire Colleges League, as well as the first team entering the National Colleges Cup. We also offer training for those who aren’t part of the two squads, with opportunities to play against other College Development teams throughout the year.
Training takes place twice a week and is structured to include fitness and skill work as well as tactical play and match play. All girls are also offered assistance and advice with injury rehabilitation, nutrition and psychological factors.
All students can access the Academy which means all students have the option to be trained by our inspirational and enthusiastic coaches to develop their game.
Recently a number of players have moved on from Brock to play netball for their university. We have past players who are currently involved in the High Performance Netball Academy at Bath University which is a great achievement as well as others who have been selected in the first squads for their University.
I’ve been part of the Academy for two years and absolutely loved it! It’s encouraged me to become more confident and I have enjoyed my overall college experience because of netball. It’s allowed me to improve my netball and fitness skills and I have found it a great way to take a break from college work.
