Brockenhurst College offers a huge range of A Levels, so I felt like I wasn’t restricted to studying things I’m not interested in. I chose English Language, Spanish, Sociology and Communication and Culture because I am interested in film and felt these lead me in the right direction without limiting my opportunities.

I had lived in Scotland for 14 years and moved a couple of months before starting my AS Levels. However, I didn’t find the academic transition too difficult and wasn’t restricted by not having done GCSEs.

Brock has given me hundreds of different of Enrichment options. So far I have taken part in netball and yoga, which give me a nice break from academic work. I have also become a Student Ambassador, which entails me giving guided tours of the College and has improved my confidence.

There have been many employers coming to speak at College throughout the year. This has given me far greater insights into what employers look for and what opportunities are available for me. In addition, I have been to numerous employability talks, gap year events and university sessions, which have helped me to think through the opportunities available.

Finally, I have been lucky enough to have teachers who are friendly and willing to give me extra help when needed. I have particularly enjoyed Spanish because for me learning a new language is very rewarding, especially when I can understand something that I couldn’t a few weeks before.
