Creative writing is something I’ve always enjoyed, and I’m quite active on the poetry/spoken word scene in Southampton. Brock was the only college I could find that offered this as a subject, so that’s why I chose to study here.

Studied:

A level Graphics (A*), Computer Science (A), Creative Writing (A)

Where are you now?

Creative writing is something I’ve always enjoyed, and I’m quite active on the poetry/spoken word scene in Southampton. Brock was the only college I could find that offered this as a subject, so that’s why I chose to study here.

In my second year I led the College’s LGBT Society, which I found to be a really good experience. As a group we were able to speak with the Principal about LGBT issues and I felt she listened carefully to our concerns, which was important.

I took advantage of several fieldtrip opportunities during my studies. The trip to see Hamlet in Stratford was particularly good.

I also enjoyed the freedom to develop the interests that my courses gave me. For example, I made a pop-up book in Graphics that eventually formed part of my overall coursework portfolio.

I’m now off to study animation at Falmouth, which should be a good fit for me. After that I’d like to go into youth work, but haven’t ruled out a career related to graphics or computer science.
