Biology, Chemistry, History and Maths
What made you want to study at Brockenhurst College?
I had a large group of friends also going to study at Brock, plus I had a great feeling from the College when I first visited for an Open Event. I also liked the rural feel of Brockenhurst as a village.
What did you enjoy most about your course(s)?
Biology: having the opportunity to discover specific elements of biology to support a biology-based career.
Chemistry: being able to use knowledge gained from the course to apply to ideas in medicine.
History: gaining the skills to write an essay and also the opportunity to do coursework for the first time.
What were your ‘highlights’ (best experiences) while attending Brockenhurst College?
My highlights definitely came from my work as a Principal’s Ambassador. Talking on stage to hundreds of prospective students and their parents was very exciting, and I always looked forward to the next event.
What extra opportunities have you taken up since studying at the College? In what ways did they help your personal development? (i.e. Aspire programme, enrichments, student ambassador scheme, work experience)
The Aspire programme provided me with invaluable knowledge about applying to university. I also enjoyed the Five-a-side Football Enrichment.
What networking, employment and work experience opportunities did you undertake and how did they enhance your college experience?
The University Fair enabled me to gain a better understanding of what course to take at university and the universities to which I should apply. Meanwhile, the online Careers Fair was useful for understanding what to expect from university. In addition, a talk by the University of Oxford helped me understand the demands of the Oxford application process and helped me prepare.
What is your next step in education or your career? For example, a full/part-time university course, full/part-time employment, apprenticeship etc. Please provide FULL details.
Biomedical Sciences at either the University of Bristol or the University of Oxford.
What are your long-term career goals? Did your time at Brock help you decide what you might like to do?
Biomedical Sciences is a very customisable degree, so I’ll choose the modules that interest me and follow a career according to those. Currently I’m interested in going into the pharmacological industry, although this might change.
