Every teacher I had was extremely friendly, treated me like an adult and would do everything they could to help me. They would be happy to see me in free periods and they were always so patient.

Studied:

Maths, Computer Science, Economics

Where are you now?

Studying Computer Science at University College London

What made you want to study at Brockenhurst College?

“I live in Brockenhurst and my older brother studied here. He very much enjoyed it and left with very good A Levels, so choosing Brock was a ‘no brainer’.”

What did you enjoy most about your course(s)?

“Every teacher I had was extremely friendly, treated me like an adult and would do everything they could to help me. They would be happy to see me in free periods and they were always so patient.”

What were your ‘highlights’ (best experiences) while attending Brockenhurst College?

“The great friendships I made with likeminded people, the Maths workshops with the extremely helpful (and patient) teachers, and the Computer Science programming lessons where you had the freedom to choose what you would code for your coursework and what you would be working on each day. I very much enjoyed the feeling of being your own boss and teachers giving you freedom to work on what you think you needed.”

What extra opportunities have you taken up since studying at the College? In what ways are they helping your personal development?

“My Computer Science teacher introduced me to programming challenges outside of the syllabus, which I found very fun and challenging. This really increased my skills and enjoyment when it came to coding.”

What networking, employment and work experience opportunities did you undertake and how did they enhance your college experience?

“Through the College I managed to meet many people wanting to study similar STEM subjects as me. We would often help each other when stuck with problems in different subjects, and I have no doubt these friendships will be very useful in the future.”
