More from George...

I chose Brock because I live in Brockenhurst and had heard that it was a good place to study. Prior to Brock I attended a boarding school in Somerset and moved back to the area when my Dad changed jobs. Therefore it was important that I had the opportunity to meet a variety people and make new friends.

Taking part in opportunities provided by the College such as advancing my skills with a step maths course, and taking part in trips such as visiting CERN with my Physics class, really helped me to develop my interests and provided me with extra knowledge.

I also took part in a Cambridge Summer Course that I was told about by my teachers. This greatly helped me with my application to the University of Cambridge. Alongside my studies I have worked for ExxonMobil at Fawley refinery, which has helped to drive my interest in chemical engineering even further. Having this experience assisted me significantly at College when considering my options for university and completing my application.

After university I hope to find a job in the engineering or computing sector. This is something to which studying at Brock has helped me aspire. I now realise that something I considered a hobby can actually be very useful to me professionally.

I loved being at Brock because it gave me the opportunity to grow and progress at my own pace, leading to lots of freedom. This was a big step up from school because I felt I was treated like an adult and was made responsible for my own success.

I enjoyed my studies and my teachers made sure the work was always challenging. I believe this is one of the key reasons I pushed myself to achieve more.
