I wanted to study at Brock because of the wide-range of courses and the fact that it feels much more like a university than a school. I prefer to do things for myself with the support of teachers and the facilities rather than be pushed to do things all the time.

Studied:

A level Further Maths (A*), Mathematics (A*), Physics (A*)

Where are you now?

Civil Engineering at Cardiff University

I wanted to study at Brock because of the wide-range of courses and the fact that it feels much more like a university than a school. I prefer to do things for myself with the support of teachers and the facilities rather than be pushed to do things all the time.

One of the highlights of my time here was the Physics trip to CERN in Switzerland, which is home to the Large Hadron Collider. That was really, really good. I also enjoyed being part of Alex Crutchley’s Physics class, especially for the astro-physics component.

Alex recommended I did a headstart course in engineering at Plymouth during my first Brock summer holiday, which was good because otherwise I wouldn’t have known the opportunity existed.

The College’s Progression Day was very helpful because it gave me the opportunity to work out which universities I wanted to visit. The various university representatives were able to give me all the information that I felt was really difficult to get online.

My ambition is to become a chartered civil engineer, and hopefully I’ll be able to get a scholarship from the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers to study Civil Engineering at Cardiff University, which includes a year in industry.
