Pre-School 3 – 5 years
We can accommodate up to 21 children in the Owls group. We aim to ensure children spend their final year before going to school in this group. We work with a variety of local schools and teachers to support their transition to Reception class.
The staffing ratio for the Owls group is 1:8. Staff plan a variety of stimulating activities around the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which has seven main areas of learning. These comprise communication and language, literacy, mathematics, physicality, knowledge, expressive arts, and personal, social and emotional development.
We have a large outside area with an AstroTurf section, a bark section, and a large concrete area with a sandpit and room for bikes, trikes and ball games.
Learning & Development
We work using the Early Years Foundation Stage and its four themes and principles.
- Supporting every child with the understanding that every child is unique, constantly learning and developing.
- Building positive relationships so children can learn to be strong and independent.
- Providing enabling environments in which children’s experiences respond to their individual needs.
- Facilitating learning and developing with the understanding that children develop in different ways and at different rates.
Importantly, we maintain an awareness that some children may have special educational needs and/or disabilities.
