Transnational Education (TNE)
At Brockenhurst College we have been involved in international education work since 2004, and are the only UK FE College to be designated by the Chinese government’s Hanban Institute (汉办) with Confucius Classroom (孔子课堂) status.
Our TNE provision is designed to develop partnerships and projects with international institutions to improve teaching and learning delivery, offering unique opportunities for students and staff.
The College has worked in the Transnational Education (TNE) market since 2005, delivering several different education programmes successfully. It has also delivered training to teachers in Vietnam.
The main programmes we have provided in recent years include a British Council Quality Assurance Project, a three-year A-Level International Programme, and an online EFL course.
We have also delivered a Head Teacher Leadership and Management Shadowing Project, and Teacher Training programmes with focus on English-teaching methodology and the micro-teaching technique.
With our experience and expertise, we offer full-time in-country A Level and Vocational courses in the following subjects:
- Early Years Education
- Art and Design
We are also actively seeking partners for other Vocational courses that we offer, including:
- Engineering and Marine
- Sport Academy (Football/Rugby/Baseball/Hockey)
In addition, we are able to offer the follow courses:
- Bespoke EFL (English as Foreign Language) courses
- Bespoke Professional Teacher Development Training programmes.
- Bespoke Leadership and Management Training programmes, including shadowing.
- Support and Training on Quality Assurance Systems.
- Introduction to UK Apprenticeship System courses.
Course structure & teaching
The course structure and teaching methods vary depending on the programme. Some of our TNE programmes are delivered entirely online (e.g. EFL), while others can be long-term in-country delivery projects (e.g. A-Level/Vocational courses).
Alternatively, courses can be short term in-country workshops (e.g. CPD) or involve a combination of online delivery and periodic visits by teachers to an overseas school to provide supplementary teaching and staff development training.
At Brock we understand the needs and demands of students and parents are changing. As a result, we can be flexible and are willing to adopt new cooperation models with our TNE partners.
Why choose Brock for TNE?
At Brock we aim to actively improve the current education and qualification system in overseas schools as well as improve students’ and teachers’ access to materials.
Our teachers are highly committed, and we have successfully delivered a range of TNE programmes with great success. These include teacher training, EFL and A-Level programmes in China, where we developed strong partnerships with schools in Chengdu and Zhuhai. Seven Brockenhurst teaching staff are now based in these areas permanently.
In June 2017 the first 11 graduates who studied on our TNE A-Level and EFL programmes all received offers from top universities, including: UCL, King’s College London, the University of Edinburgh and Central Saint Martins.
Our current key TNE partners include the British Council, Chengdu Education Bureau, Chengdu Jiaxiang Foreign Languages School, The Experimental School affiliated with Zhuhai No.1 High School, and the Vietnam General Directorate of Vocational Training.
