Exploring Pen and Wash Workshop

You will learn how to create drawings using pen and wash, while also learning how to use watercolour to enhance your drawing without overpowering it. There will be a variety of topics, including buildings, landscapes, plants and flowers. You will experiment with drawing detail and working rapidly for more sketchy effects. You will use permanent ink that will not run and soluble ink that will. Visual resources will be provided, but please bring your own if you wish.

Course information

Please bring:

• Thick cartridge paper.
• Smooth (or not) surface watercolour paper.
• Pens.
• Biro.
• Watercolour paints (small set will do – alternatively, just a blue, red and yellow.
• Round brushes (soft not bristle).

Fountain pen and Quink ink (you can also purchase soluble ink pens in the stationers – look on the pen to see if it is waterproof or not).
