Scatter Cushion Workshop

Do you need some guidance on how to make scatter cushions? Are you looking for some hints and tips on inserting a zip or adding piping? Are you getting back into sewing and need a bit of confidence to help make your own cushions? This workshop will allow you to make two different styles of scatter cushion. Having said that, you can opt to make two cushions in the same style if you wish. Options comprise standard zipped, piped, frilled, and/or Oxford style. This workshop is suitable for people who are familiar with using a sewing machine. It is not suitable for complete beginners.

Course information

You can bring your own fabric, or a choice of fabric can be made available on the day (for a small fee). If you want to re-cover a favourite cushion, please bring it along. Alternatively, you can have some fun by upcycling an old pair of jeans or a shirt. If you bring your own fabric, please consider whether you want the same fabric on both sides or a contrast colour. If you select piping or frilled options, additional fabric will be needed. Your Tutor can supply cushion fillers (45cm x 45cm). The two options are feather (£5.00) or hollow fibre (£4.00). Piping cord, coloured zips or continuous zips can also be supplied for a small fee. You should bring scissors, a tape measure and pins, along with thread of a neutral colour or a colour to match your fabric. You will also need a fabric marker. There are a limited number of sewing machines available, so if you can bring your own, please do.
