Business students at Brockenhurst College raised £1,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance recently through a series of fundraising initiatives based on business theory.
Air Ambulance representatives then visited Brock on Tuesday to collect a cheque, which was presented on the sports field.
As part of their course, the students were tasked with coming up with money-making ideas, which they then planned and executed successfully.
Events included a bake sale, with donations coming from Bakehouse in Brockenhurst village and retail giant Tesco.
This followed persuasive pitches by the students, who sold the proposition as a sponsorship opportunity that had community investment and public relations value.
There was also a clothing sale, with unwanted clothes donated by students and staff from across the college.
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business learners chose Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as their sole charity because of its impressive lifesaving record.
They also chose it because it exists solely on donations, receiving no government support.
Business teacher Clare Partridge said: “To smash our £1,000 target exceeded all our expectations.
“Well done to each and every student for their hard work and creativity in supporting such a worthy cause.”
