A Level Physics students from Brockenhurst College benefitted from the rare opportunity to handle and examine moon rocks recently.

The priceless artifacts were brought back to Earth by NASA astronauts during the Apollo lunar landing missions of the 1970s.

There were also meteorite specimens, including rare samples from both the Moon and Mars.

The loan was kindly arranged by Verity Johnson from 8th Brockenhurst Scouts.

Physics teacher Alex Crutchley said: “To have the unique learning experience of handling and examining rock specimens from other worlds was something very special.

“Thanks to Verity Johnson, and of course NASA, it would be fair to say that our A Level Physics students were over the moon – all over it… pieces of it, anyway…”
