Counselling Support

At Brockenhurst College, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Our counselling provision is delivered by a highly skilled team of experienced counsellors with a broad range of professional expertise, knowledge and specialisms. This ensures that students receive high-quality, compassionate, and effective support tailored to their individual needs.

Early Access and Timely Support

Students referred to our counselling service are assessed promptly and, wherever possible, seen quickly to ensure that support is provided at the earliest opportunity. Our standard offer is up to eight counselling sessions, with flexibility built in depending on the level and complexity of need. This allows us to respond appropriately while ensuring that students receive meaningful and focused intervention.

Supporting Transition into College

We recognise that transition into post-16 education can be a significant step. As part of our pre-enrolment and enrolment processes, students are able to share relevant information about their wellbeing needs. This enables our team to plan proactively and, where appropriate, ensure that students are assessed and supported within the first few weeks of joining the College. Early identification and intervention are key to helping students settle confidently into college life.

Collaborative and Integrated Support

Where required, our counselling service works closely with GPs and other external agencies to ensure joined-up, holistic care. This collaborative approach helps to provide continuity of support and ensures that students receive the right help at the right time.

Empowering Students

We believe in empowering students to take ownership of their wellbeing. Students are encouraged to self-refer and actively engage in shaping their support. Through counselling, they develop resilience, self-awareness, and practical strategies to overcome barriers. Our aim is to help students feel confident, capable, and ready to take their next steps,  whether that is progressing into employment, an apprenticeship, university, or further training.
