Mandatory units – 40 credits.
All these mandatory units must be completed:
· Follow health and safety in the salon
· Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
· Providing basic manicure treatment
· Providing basic pedicure treatment
· Salon reception duties
· Skin care
· The art of photographic make-up
· Themed face painting
· Working with others in the hair and beauty sector
· Basic make-up application
· Create a hair and beauty image
· Nail art application
· Presenting a professional image in a salon
Teaching & learning
You will learn using a modern, practical approach that places you at the centre of your learning.
Lessons combine practical demonstrations, guided practice and group discussions to build your confidence and skills.
You will use industry standard equipment at our training salon, while developing your teamwork and communication abilities through collaboration with classmates and client-based activities.
Learning is enriched through creative projects, themed workshops and opportunities to observe professional practice, making lessons engaging, varied and fun.
Minimum entry requirements
You are expected to be enthusiastic about the beauty industry and have a positive attitude towards practical learning.
You should demonstrate good communication skills, a willingness to work with others and a commitment to health and safety.
An interview and/or initial assessment forms part of the entry process. You will need to achieve 3 GCSEs, including English and Maths grades 2 or above.
Alternatively, you should have successfully completed a Foundation Entry Level 3 qualification and have achieved an Entry Level 3 or higher in English and Maths.
What can I do with this qualification?
This qualification provides an excellent base for progression into the beauty industry. Successful students can move on to a Level 2 Diploma or a related vocational courses.
The programme can also lead to entry-level roles such as salon assistant, junior therapist or beauty receptionist.
Importantly, the skills you gain will support future employment, apprenticeships or further training, helping you build confidence, experience and a clear career vision.
