Course introduction
Digital Music Production is designed for students who have a passion for music and an interest in the technical aspects of music production.
This course covers the fundamentals of music technology, critical listening and the latest industry-standard software used in the production of music.
You will develop your skills in music technology, recording, production and sound engineering through practical projects and assignments.
This programme will cover a wide range of topics, including sequencing, mixing, mastering, and remixing.

Course information
The full course title for this programme is Level 3 Extended Certificate in the Creative Music Industry (Production pathway). This qualification is equivalent to one A Level in UCAS points. You will need to complete TWO other A Levels alongside this course to build a full Study Programme.
Teaching & learning
You will be able to enjoy a wide range of teaching and learning methods, giving you a well-rounded learning experience.
These include individual coursework tutorials, class discussions, group tasks and peer evaluations, plus an independent study database.
You can also take advantage of additional opportunities in the Performing Arts department, such as playing in bands and taking part in productions.
Course assessment
You will create a portfolio of evidence to show your development as a digital music production specialist.
You will also work with bands and be involved in performance work.
Minimum entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4 and above with a minimum average GCSE score of 4.0, including:
- English Language
- Maths
- A basic level of keyboard skills
- An active interest in music
- A willingness to embrace a broad range of styles
What can I do with this qualification?
Past students have progressed to a wide range of degree courses. These include programmes in sound recording and/or music technology.
In recent years, students have gone on to study at The Academy of Popular Music and Bath Spa, ICMP, BIMM and Solent University.
Ultimately this learning opportunity will give you a decent grounding in music technology, providing you with the essential tools to begin your career.
Course student profiles
Adam Welch was the first Brock student to be named Student of the Year in Performing Arts and Music. He went to the University of Surrey to study on the prestigious Tonmeister course. Adam now works as a Sound Engineer for Arena Television.
