Teaching & learning


This course will be taught using a combination of modern and traditional methods.

Learning activities include hands-on projects, discussions, cybersecurity exercises and software development for real clients. You will also listen to guest speakers from local tech companies.

Importantly, you will undertake an industry placement, during which you will spend around 315 hours in the workplace.

Minimum entry requirements


Entry requirements are five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including Maths and English). For internal progressors, the requirement will be successful completion of a Level 2 programme, plus Maths and English at grade 4 or above.

What can I do with this qualification?


Successful course leavers can progress to job roles in software development, such as: Web Developer, App Developer, Software Development Technician, Mobile App Developer, Game Developer, Software Developer, Test Developer or Programmer.

Or you may progress to higher-level apprenticeships such as Level 4 Software Developer, or to degree programmes.
