Garden Design

This eight week course will cover all the essential stages of the garden design process. It is a mixed ability class and will suit all levels. Importantly, this programme creates a joined-up learning experience that you can take away. The sessions will be predominately concerned with practical drawing and designing, with some measuring and sketchbook creation throughout. This will be supported by verbal instruction and handouts. There will be a small amount of homework that will support completion of your final designs. For example, collecting soil samples.

Information & support

Here is a list of the equipment you will need: scale ruler, pencils, pens, coloured pencils, and an A4 or A3 sketch book to create a scrapbook containing design ideas. The course will be structured according to the following units: Creating your brief; Taking a survey; Site analysis and appraisal; Design process; Basic drawing and presentation skills; Plants and hard landscaping materials selection.
