Sustainability Level 3 Certificate

The principle of sustainable development is to provide for the needs of today without compromising the needs of future generations. Our changing world needs leaders and supporters who understand the complexities of sustainability and can take practical steps and offer educated advice to balance the needs of the environment, society and economy.

This course is designed to be studied alongside a full study programme of three A Levels or the vocational equivalent, and is part of our Brock-Extra offer.

This is a new qualification, introduced nationally in 2025 and currently offered by a limited number of education providers across the UK.

You will benefit from the knowledge and experience of a lecturer who has worked in a range of sustainability-focused roles, including Sustainable Policy Officer, Sustainable Communities Officer and Sustainability Consultant.

Course information

You will learn about the complexities of sustainability and understand how to identify, research and communicate sustainability practice.

Teaching & learning

This qualification is designed to be enriched by site visits and external speakers. Class room sessions will include the opportunity to discuss and debate theory and real life scenarios.

Course assessment

50% of the course is assessed through a 1:15hrs exam
50% of the course is assessed through a non-examined assessment (coursework) completed in class.

English grade 4

What can I do with this qualification?

A knowledge and understanding of sustainability is valued across a broad range of sectors. Students can progress to a direct Sustainable Development degree or add value to any future work or study. Careers include; Sustainability Consultant, Sustainability Engineering Manager, Principle Sustainability and Energy Modeller, Sustainable Policy Officer, Head of Sustainability, Sustainable Communities Officer, Sustainability Reporting Specialist.
