Painting Flowers and Plants in an Oriental Style
Course introduction
You will learn the principles of oriental painting and Sumi-I, learning the basic brush strokes used to create paintings of flowers in this style. You will explore painting flowers and plants in a free and uncomplicated style that has movement. Please bring:
- Watercolours or acrylics (both will be suitable for this course).
- Cartridge paper – 300gsm not surface watercolour paper (Bockingford available from art shops).
- Brushes – flat and round brushes (preferably long, as you will need these to create the brushstrokes).
You Tutor will provide visual resources; examples of others work; and black ink for Sumi-I painting. She will also have Chinese brushes for you to use if you wish.
