At Brock we opened a £4.9m Foundation and Independence Hub in 2023.
The new building includes 14 new classrooms, social space, meeting rooms and a student kitchen.
Course modules/units
Topics covered will include:
Considering your own work-related skills and behaviours.
- Selecting and applying for a job role.
- Preparing for an interview and participating in an interview.
- Observing health and safety rules at work.
- Meeting customer needs.
- Participating in work placement.
- Running an enterprise activity.
You will continue learning English and maths at the appropriate levels.
Teaching & learning
You will benefit from a wide range of teaching and learning methods, giving you a well-rounded learning experience.
These include classroom activities, community activities, tutorials, group work and individual work.
Minimum entry requirements
You may be accepted onto this course if:
- You have an EHCP and we can meet your Special Educational Needs.
- You want to improve your knowledge, confidence, social communication skills and independence skills.
- You learn best in small groups.
- You have some learning difficulties.
You will be assessed on your English and maths skills at the start course.
You will also attend an informal interview.
There will be consultations around whether we can meet your needs appropriately.
What can I do with this qualification?
This course may lead to progression routes at college or support you in starting higher-level courses elsewhere.
Commencing employment or an apprenticeship are also realistic options.
