Course introduction


Do you have clothes in your wardrobe that you love but no longer wear? This friendly and supportive ten-week, daytime course will help you transform forgotten favourites into stylish, wearable pieces that you will feel excited to wear again. Whether you are a complete beginner or already confident with a sewing machine, you will learn practical alteration skills, creative upcycling techniques and simple design ideas to refresh and modernise your existing clothes. From resizing and reshaping to adding new details and decorative touches, you will discover how small changes can make a big difference. Working in a small group of just nine students, you will enjoy guidance, inspiration and encouragement in a relaxed and welcoming environment. As well as learning new skills, you will reduce waste, save money and gain the confidence to look at your wardrobe with fresh eyes.

  • Simple alterations such as shortening, resizing and reshaping.
  • Tips for modernising older garments.

  • Sewing machine.
  • Basic sewing kit.

  • A small selection of garments from your wardrobe that you would like to alter and/or update.
