Entry Requirements for 2027
Our entry requirements are designed to help you choose a study programme that is right for you.
The courses available to you will depend on your GCSE results, including your average GCSE grade, as well as any specific requirements for the subjects you would like to study.
Your predicted grades will help us discuss your initial options. We will then confirm your study programme once you receive your GCSE results.
A Levels and Level 3 Single Subjects
With A Levels and Level 3 Single Subjects, such as V Level and BTEC Single Subjects), you can study a number of different subject areas. These qualifications are ideal if you enjoy academic learning and want to keep your options open for further study.
Vocational courses
Vocational courses, such as BTECs, are industry-focused qualifications that combine practical and theoretical learning. They are available at a range of levels and are assessed through coursework as well as some exams.
T Levels
T Levels are technical qualifications designed in partnership with employers, combining classroom learning with real industry experience. They are two-year programmes, with approximately 80% classroom learning and 20% spent on a substantial industry placement.
Level 2 programmes
The standard entry requirement for a Level 2 programme is:
Four GCSEs at grade 3, including English Language.
Some courses also require a particular grade in Maths, Science or a related subject. These requirements are shown on the individual course pages.
A Level 2 course can be a positive next step if you are not yet ready to begin a Level 3 programme. It will help you develop your subject knowledge and skills, with opportunities to progress to further study, an apprenticeship or employment.
If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English Language or Maths, you will continue working towards these qualifications alongside your main course.
Level 1 and Entry Level programmes
Our Level 1 and Entry Level courses provide a supportive starting point, helping you develop your confidence, independence and practical skills.
Entry requirements vary depending on the course. Some programmes do not require any formal qualifications, while others normally require GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent.
We will consider your individual circumstances and help you identify the programme that best supports your next steps.
Requirements for individual courses
Alongside the general requirements above, some courses have their own subject-specific criteria. For example, you may need:
- A particular grade in GCSE Maths, English or Science
- A GCSE in the subject you would like to study
- Relevant practical experience
- An audition, portfolio or interview
- A work placement or existing vocational qualification
