Sports Academy

Thinking of coming to Brock and want to play sport alongside your academic studies? Then the Sports Academy is for you!

The Sports Academy is a talent development programme designed to help you be the best athlete you can be in your chosen sport and is central to the success and reputation of Brockenhurst College being the number one choice for sports in the area.

The College has six academies

  • Men’s and Women’s Football
  • Men’s and Women’s Rugby
  • Men’s and Women’s Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Golf

 


The Sports Academy sessions are timetabled around your academic programme, each squad has the opportunity to train twice a week and play in matches in county, regional and national competitions throughout the season.

Academies

The Academy is a tremendous platform for all aspiring athletes to gain outstanding coaching from highly qualified and experienced coaches, enabling them to develop technical and tactical skills which will ultimately improve overall performance in their chosen sport.

Training Facilities

Training takes place at the college’s main campus using the sports hall, astro, hard courts, grass pitches and fitness suite.

Fully equipped Gym and Fitness Studio
25 acres of playing fields
Brand new purpose built changing facilities
Extended Sports Hall with Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Netball and Volleyball Court and Circuit Training
Floodlit full size artificial turf pitch for Hockey and Football
Floodlit 5-a-side artificial turf pitch for Hockey and Football
Floodlit all-weather courts for Netball and Tennis
Grass pitches for Football, Rugby, Hockey, Lacrosse

What are the entry requirements?

  • A good level of playing experience in your chosen sport be it from playing for your school or higher such a club, county etc.
  • A willingness to learn and develop in your chosen sport
  • A student studying a course at Brockenhurst College. Remember – you don’t have to study sport to be a member of the Sports Academy.
  • Sports Academy is open to 16-19 year old males and females

The rewards from the Sports Academy will be highly beneficial for any aspiring athlete’s development – you will play sport in a competitive professional environment, receive excellent coaching and benefit from outstanding training facilities.

Competitions

All of the Academies compete in competitions throughout the season. These include county, regional and national competitions such as Hampshire Schools and Colleges Leagues and Cups, British Colleges Sport leagues and tournaments as well as other nationwide cup competitions.

There is also a full range of competitive opportunities for individual students to gain county, regional and national representation within their sport. This includes British Colleges Sport and National Governing Bodies talent identification systems.
