Teaching & learning


This course is a mixture of modern classroom-based teaching, practical learning and work experience.

Meanwhile, computer technology will play a leading role in enhancing your academic and practical abilities.

You will use your creative skills to plan activities for the young and elderly.

You will also complete research into the health and social care sector and deliver presentations to your peers and tutors.

There will be individual and group work, with assignments set throughout the year.

Minimum entry requirements


You may be accepted onto this course if:

  • You have an EHCP and we can meet your Special Educational Needs.
  • You learn best in small groups.
  • You have some gaps in your learning.

You will be assessed on your English and maths skills at the start course.

You will also attend an informal interview.

There will be consultations around whether we can meet your needs appropriately.

What can I do with this qualification?


If you achieve an overall MERIT grade, along with an excellent attendance record and the appropriate level of English and maths, you could be eligible to progress to a Level 2 course.

Alternatively, you may decide to move into employment or seek an apprenticeship.
