Brock retains Matrix Standard for quality of information, advice and guidance given on careers and progression

Brockenhurst College has retained the Department for Education’s Matrix Standard for the quality of information, advice and guidance it gives to help people make informed choices about careers and progression routes.
The status was renewed last week following a continuous improvement check inspection.
The Matrix Standard is outcome-based, which means assessors look not only at processes used to support information, advice and guidance delivery, but also at the results achieved.
Impartiality and independence are the main hallmarks of organisations deserving the accreditation.
Brock’s assessment was based on the quality of the information, advice and guidance the College provides to prospective students as well as those currently enrolled.
The Department for Education says of the Matrix Standard:
‘The matrix standard is a unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.’
Brock was first awarded the Matrix Standard in 2004, shortly after the scheme was launched.
The accreditation is also an external validation of the high quality guidance Brock offers adults seeking employment through the Quickstart scheme in Southampton.
Admissions and Progression Manager, Steve Jenkin, said: “I know exactly how hard our staff work to maintain their high standards of information, advice and guidance, so this renewal is welcome confirmation of a job that continues to be done well.”
