Arrival
I get the train to Brock. Sometimes I get a lift from my dad. This seems to work well because I’m never late.
09:00am – 10:30am
Lesson one
I have a Study Period, which is also known as DoubleUP. I use this time to go through the Powerpoint presentations I have created in lessons to help me revise.
10:30am – 10:50am
Break
At breaktime I meet up with my friends. All my friends are people I’ve met since starting college.
10:50am – 12:20pm
Lesson two
This is my Media lesson. Right now, we’re building websites. My teachers are really helpful, always supporting me to do my best.
12:20pm – 1:10pm
Lunch
At Lunchtime on Tuesdays I do my African and Caribbean Society. This is fun because, among other things, we listen to music and dance.
1:10pm – 2:40pm
Lesson three
Lesson three is my second Media lesson of the day. I like this arrangement because my morning lesson sticks, and I roll my new knowledge over to the afternoon.
2:50pm – 4:20pm
Lesson four
Maths is my final lesson. I really like my teacher. She’s very supportive, and she’s helped me stop making the minor mistakes that were holding me back.
Your Learning
Your Study Programme and our approach to learning work together to give you the study skills and support you need to get the most out of college.
You will create an individual Study Programme (SP) that will serve as your overarching strategy for success. The main feature of your SP will be your subject or subjects. To complement these formal studies, you will add your choice of Enrichments and/or academy commitments. Weekly tutorials with your Academic Tutor will be another important SP feature. You will also use your SP to set targets for independent learning as part of our Blended Learning approach. This independent learning may be completed remotely or on campus. And, last but not least, you will have timetabled slots for engaging with our Next Steps progression initiative.
