Arrival

I catch the bus from Totton. Onboard I meet my friends and we catch up on all the stuff we’ve done since we last saw each other.

09:00am – 10:30am

Lesson one

My first lesson is all about developing my hand skills in the workshop. All the tools and materials are on site, so I don’t need to worry about sourcing any of them myself.

10:30am – 10:50am

Break

At break I hang out with my friends in the social space. I might have something to eat and drink too.

10:50am – 12:20pm

Lesson two

This lesson is hand skills in the workshop again. A typical task would be to take apart a winch, clean it, and put it back together to make sure it works perfectly. This is also an opportunity for me to understand exactly how it works.

12:20pm – 1:10pm

Lunch

At lunchtime I have a few different options. I sit outside with my friend Jack if the weather is nice. If not, I walk down to the end of the site and look at the cruise ships. I can also take a 5-minute walk into Marchwood village to access any shops if necessary.

1:10pm – 2:40pm

Lesson three

Lesson three is a classroom session. We often get out maps to plot the course of vessels. Tasks include finding the angle to go at.

2:50pm – 4:20pm

Lesson four

This is another classroom lesson. I normally use this time to review my revision notes that I have used to prepare for my previous mock exams.
