Brockenhurst College has launched a free breakfast for all students as part of a new College funded initiative designed to remove barriers to learning.
The free breakfast is available to students in Hard Brock Café between 8.15am and 9.00am, Monday to Friday during term time.
Students can choose from a range of breakfast options, including porridge, toast with preserves and fruit. Dietary requirements can also be accommodated on request.
Steve Jenkin, Assistant Principal at Brockenhurst College, said:
“As part of our inclusive culture at Brockenhurst College, we want to remove any barriers students may face in accessing their learning.
“We are delighted to be introducing the free breakfast offer. We hope it will give students a positive start to the day and help ensure they are ready to make the most of their learning.”
Students welcomed the initiative when the first breakfasts were served.
Student Jace Mashonga said:
“It’s a great option for anyone who doesn’t have time to eat at home. It means students can start the day without worrying about having an empty stomach.
“It also makes my morning easier because I can focus on getting ready and making sure I have everything I need before I leave. I’ll definitely be coming back.”
Fellow student Sophie Howell said:
“It’s a really good idea and I enjoyed the toast and porridge. Knowing breakfast is available at College means I don’t have to rush in the morning.”
The launch follows a full refurbishment of the College’s catering facilities and the introduction of two new café areas, bringing both a Starbucks and a Costa Coffee outlet to the campus.
