Rosa Festini from Florence, who lives in Christchurch, also picked up the International award at the formal evening event, which was held in the college’s main hall last week.

Having starred in Brock’s production The Great British Bake Off Musical earlier this year, Rosa now hopes to progress to University of the Arts London to study Acting.

On winning TWO awards, Rosa said: “I got two letters in the mail one time and just opened them, and I actually thought they (Brock) sent one twice.”

About studying Brock for two years, she said: “I originally came here for a year, but it was the community and being able to study what I was passionate about that made me fall in love with the place.”

In total, 36 Gala Awards were presented to academic high achievers and students who have made a significant contribution to college life at Brock over the last academic year.

The balmy evening began with alfresco drinks and canapés on the Staff Lawn, providing an opportunity for parents, staff, award winners and sponsors to mingle.

Music student Michael Perry added to the ambience by playing a long list of classical favourites on the piano.

Guests then took their seats before host Moira Rock officially opened proceedings on stage.

She was joined by award sponsors for the main presentations, which comprised a framed certificate containing a citation and a cheque for £100.

Meanwhile, memorial awards were interspersed, which saw winners collect established trophies, along with certificates and cheques.

Chair of Governors Bob Hogg and Principal & CEO Helen Odhams also took the stage to praise winners and thank staff for their hard work.

Helen Odhams said: “The success of our students fills me with pride. It is a testament not only to their hard work, but also to the dedication of our teachers and professional services staff.

“Their support and expertise help make Brock a special place to learn. Furthermore, I would like to extend my thanks to the parents, carers, families and employers whose encouragement and support have helped our students flourish.”
