Athletes ‘hit fine form with dazzling performances’ in 2022-23

Brock’s mixed indoor cricket team

Promising young athletes from Brockenhurst College have been making their mark during a packed schedule of fixtures and events in 2022-23.

Amelie Whitaker (18) and Rebecca Barron (19) were both selected to play county cricket for Dorset.

Meanwhile, Tomas Cheater (17) played test cricket for Hampshire men’s second team.

Also, in indoor cricket, Brock’s mixed team won the Association of Colleges South East regional tournament for the second consecutive year, progressing to April’s national competition in Nottingham.

Golfer Jensen Bull (16) was named U18 county captain for Dorset, leading his team to victory in the South Western Counties Golf Association Championship.

And in netball, Kayleigh Aitken-Robinson (18) was called up to the Surrey Storm squad for the 2022-23 season.

Figure skater Samantha Goris-Godfrey (16) won bronze in the Britannia Cup in Nottingham and will compete internationally in synchronised figure skating in July.

In show jumping, Chloe Lymbery (16) competed nationally and internationally and hopes to complete a trial for the Great Britain junior team later this year.

Keen boules player Aimee Torevelle (17) has reached the national finals with her club, having also reached national quarter-finals in ladies’ singles.

Plus, underwater hockey talent Emanuel Lordache (18) helped power his club to the top of the British Octopush Association league.

In football, the men’s first team players have booked their place in the Hampshire Colleges cup final in March, where they will play Portsmouth College.

And cross country runner Tom Cawley (19) posted a season’s best, running 5km in 18 minutes.

Head of Sport at Brockenhurst College, Kevin Jones, said: “We have seen so many of our athletes hit fine form with dazzling performances so far this academic year.

“Our Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme, which supports students to study A Levels or a Vocational course in combination with their training regime, means we continue to attract exciting talent from across our region.”
