A Brock Sport teacher, who used to play for AFC Bournemouth and Portsmouth FC, delighted Bashley FC fans by scoring an emphatic hat-trick against Fareham Town last weekend.
According to a local newspaper, Matt Tubbs (37) ‘rolled back the years’ to score with two headers and a ‘piercing’ ten-yard shot.
He also won a penalty that was duly dispatched by a teammate.
Bashley ended the game 5-0 winners in front of an ecstatic home crowd of 452.
Matt said: “Naturally, I’m pleased with my performance on Saturday and hope the run of form continues.
“I love scoring goals, so it was a great feeling to get a hat-trick – the fans were delighted with the result.”
The win saw Bashley extend their unbeaten run in the Wessex League Premier Division to 15 games.
They are now four-points clear in second place behind league leaders Hamworthy United.
