Brockenhurst College celebrates A level success

Results day 2014Maintaining an outstanding overall pass rate of 99%,Brockenhurst College is today celebrating the success of A level students who completed their courses this summer.

More than half of students gained A*-B grades, with three quarters of all students achieving A*-C grades across all subjects. Nearly two thirds of STEM subject students gained A*-B grades (Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology).

Brock student Chris Castle, from Poole, achieved 4 A/A* grades in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry and now has a place to study Chemistry at Manchester. “I am delighted and relieved to have picked up my results today,” Chris said. “The quality of teaching here at Brock has been unbelievable and I feel college really has acted as a stepping stone on to university.”

Adam Mesout, from Bournemouth, gained A/A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics as well as AS level Computing and Additional Maths, despite having a broken hand throughout much of the exam period! On receiving his excellent results today he said: “The Exams Team at Brock was fantastic and really helped me through, despite the setback of my injury! I’m excited to be going on to study a Maths degree at Warwick now, but am really going to miss all my teachers – College has really been a great experience for me.”

Another student, Jenna Crosbie from the Isle of Wight achieved A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Jenna said: “I’m really happy with my results which have secured my place at UCL to study Medicine. My A level tutors have all been so enthusiastic and I think my time at Brock has really set me up for the future and life at university.”

Claudia Lever from Southampton got A grades in Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and a B for French, and is now going to the University of Manchester to study English with Italian. Claudia said today: “I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my results as I did better than I expected! I’ve been so lucky to enjoy such a nice learning environment at Brock – my teachers have provided so much support for which I am very grateful.”

Celebrating the success of Brock students today, Principal Di Roberts commented : “Once again, Brockenhurst College students have attained outstanding A level results and I am tremendously proud of their individual achievements in this, our centenary year. I also take pride in the overall success of the College and thank the staff and parents for the part they have played in our students’ achievements.  This is, as always, a great day of celebration for us all and I wish all the students who leave us today every success for the future.”
