Students and staff from Brockenhurst College gathered recently to recognise the achievements of academic high-flyers at the College’s Maths and Science Awards.
The annual event, which is sponsored by Hythe-based GEO Speciality Chemicals UK Ltd., featured 19 different awards for achievements in science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.
Winners picked up either gold or silver certificates along with cash prizes to formally recognise their achievements.
Leading the honours was former New Forest Academy pupil Josh Farrell, who picked up THREE awards. These were for high achievements in Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths.
Josh, who aims to study Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, said: “Thanks to all my teachers for supporting me in my studies and with my university applications – it means a great deal.”
College Principal Di Roberts CBE said: “I’d like to extend my warmest congratulations to all the award winners. I’ve no doubt, these young people have some incredible futures ahead of them.”
Graham Dunkley, Engineering Manager at GEO Speciality Chemicals UK, said: “It’s great to be able to recognise and celebrate the achievements of individual students and to encourage their career aspirations.”
It was the first Maths and Science awards ceremony to be held at the College’s new state-of-the-art STEM centre, which opened in September.
