Media student Clark Byrne, who set his sights on a career in radio after visiting the studios of Hospital Radio Bedside in Bournemouth aged ten, now presents TWO shows on different stations.
The second year student presents five morning shows a week on The Mix Radio online and four evening shows a week on FM/DAB station B Radio.
Both shows last three hours and have a dance music focus, with tunes drawn from the stations’ daily playlists.
Clark records all his voice clips the day before and then inserts the music tracks to create a package of pre-recorded content that is ready to air.
He uses social media channels, Twitter in particular, to gather news from artists about releases and tours, as well as biographical information, that he then reports to listeners.
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Media student has a new gig lined up with Hot Radio in Bournemouth on FM/DAB, and he may also provide content for Hospital Radio Bedside in Bournemouth.
Clark, who lives in Poole, said: “Lockdown gave me the time and space to really work hard on my technical and presenting skills, which has led to me feeling much more comfortable in doing what I do.
“After I finish my course I might take a gap year to gain more radio experience and plot my next move, which could be to university but I haven’t decided yet.”
